1Sam.4:1-7:14

We have to read the scriptures above to understand what was prevailing here. Eli was the priest of God, and his two sons were helping him in the daily administration of the office of the high priest. Their hands and hearts were not clean, and they seduced the women in the temple, and desecrated the holy meat and grain offerings of the Lord. God was not pleased with them, and the fate of the Israelites was hanging in a balance. The Lord had warned the sons of Eli several times, but they did not repent of their evil and wicked ways.

Israel went into the battle field with the Philistines, and the battle was fierce. Israel was defeated, and the two sons of Eli were killed in the battle. The Ark of the Covenant was taken by the enemy and godless nations, the Philistines, and to complicated matter, when the priest Eli heard the news of the Ark been taken, he fell backwards and died.

All Israel was in mourning for their personal and corporate sins. The enemy and ungodly nation of the Philistines had captured the Ark of the Covenant that represented the divine authority and presence of the God Israel. This divine presence was in the enemy’s camp, and against the Israelites because of their sins. But God will not be mocked. He is the Supreme Ruler of the universe, and no mortal man can stay His hands.

Amidst jubilation, merriment, joy and the total awe that Israel had been defeated, and the Ark was captured. They took it as the trophy of war to their god, Dagon, to honor him. But in the night, while the city of Ashdod was sleeping, the God of Israel who is the Lord of deities dismembered Dagon. When they woke up in the morning, they went straight to the house of their god, but they were amazed at what the God Israel had done to him.

v.3. When they arose in the morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the Ark of the Lord. They were not happy campers, but nevertheless they took their god, and set him up in his place again. The next morning when they came to Dagon, he was fallen upon his face to the ground before the Ark of the Lord; and the head of Dagon, and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold, and only the stump was left to him. They did not dare to walk where their god has fallen, and unto this day. (vv.4-5) The judgment of the Lord was upon the city of Ashdod and the inhabitants as He smote them with hemorrhoids, and the coasts thereof. (v.6) It simply means that all gods bowed to our God, and if He is in us, they will bow to Him in us too.

The city of Ashdod said, “The Ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us: for His hand is sore upon us, and upon Dagon our god. (v.7) The word of the Lord said in the Holy Scriptures, “Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world. (1Jn.4:4) If the god of the Philistines could stand our God, even so will they not be able to stand before us because of who is in us. The word says, “No weapon fashioned or formed against us shall prosper. (Isa.54:17) Satan and the hosts of hell will not be able to stand up against us in Christ.

This is the message that God wants us to here, and hold it fast in our spirits. Those who contend with you shall be defeated, and those who have taken from you by crooks and foul means shall return what they have taken from you. Everyone owing you money that you have forgotten shall be brought back with interests.

You are a fire in their bosom, and they cannot retain it without been burnt. It does not matter where they have taken your name to, they will come bringing you best of the best due to you in Jesus’ Name. If you have sinned, repent of the sin and get back on track to the Lord your God.

It does not matter where they go with your name, it shall be the same result, because the God of heaven had decreed blessings and favor for you on every side, front, backward, at your right and at the left hand. Your life will be met with success and great glory.

They carry the Ark to three cities of the Philistine, and they encountered the same wrath of God upon the city and the inhabitants. Ashdod, Gath, Ekron, and all the cities that they may take your name to, no one can stand you because you are a child of God. You carry the power, anointing and fire of the Spirit in your life. As the people of the cities of Philistines revered the presence and the authority of God, so shall it be with you in all the cities of the world. They shall revere the God in you.

All that is meant for you, and some more, shall be returned to you because you are a child of God, and the fire of God dwells within your life. So, begin to decree and declare that you will fulfill your destiny, and inherit the bounties of your enemies. Decree and declare health, wealth, prosperity, longevity, abundance, blessings when you go out, and when you come in. You shall not die, but live, and fulfill the years that God has indicated for you. Speak to your children, grandchildren, husband, wife, daughters, sons, nephews, nieces, brothers, sisters and all that the Lord has earmarked for you.

The enemy shall fall like Dagon, the gods of the Philistines and this world. You will succeed in your life, and all who rise in judgment against you shall not stand. Speak it out through your lips, and do not hold back. You are the Ark of the Lord, and your life carries the authority and presence of your God.

He is in you, and has given you authority and power over the powers of the enemy. Listen to what He said in the following Scriptures.

“They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (Isa.40:31) There is therefore now no condemnation to them who are Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (Rom.8:1) These signs shall follow them that believe; in My name, they shall cast out demons, they shall speak with new tongues.

They shall take up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them, and they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. (Mk.16:17-18) Behold I give unto you power to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Lk.10:19-20) These Scriptures and many others have been given to all of His children, and you can count on them. You can go to the bank, and cash your checks.

So, you are the Ark of the Lord, and His Spirit, presence and power dwell in you. Fear not, it is your Father’s pleasure to give you the Kingdom. (Lk.12:32) Take His Kingdom, and let Him operate through your life. Amen!
